Modular Pontoons for Hire

The modular nato pontoon units are supplied in two main sizes, mid sections which are 4.2m x 2.1m and the swim end sections which are 4.7m x 2.1m. Each unit weighs around 1.4t, have anti slip deck coating and are all fitted with fork pockets to enable safe handling when loading and unloading. They are designed to be simple to assemble with minimal tools required and they can be rapidly connected together to form stable floating platforms. Taska Marine can supply the pontoons for clients to assemble on site if they have experience of working with these units or we can provide experienced assembly personnel to assist or we can provide a full turnkey mobilisation service.

Each pontoon will support around 2500kg of deck load with a freeboard of 200mm and a draft of 530mm. Subject to stability checks, a standard 9 unit setup would have an approximate safe working load of up to 22.5t if evenly distributed.

The pontoons are easily mobilised to site by road using standard road transport with up to 9 pontoons on a typical HGV flatbed trailer or up to 6 units on a rigid truck. They can be safely handled by forklift or telehandler using the internal fork pockets, this prevents them sliding when moving over rough ground conditions found on most sites, or they can be lifted by crane or lorry loader using specialist lifting chains.

Bespoke pontoon layouts can be designed around client’s specific requirements or project restrictions to ensure the most cost efficient solution. Setups can often be changed part way through projects without the need to completely reconfigure the whole barge

Designed to have a very shallow draft, they are ideally suited for providing access in challenging and hard-to-reach areas or they can be used effectively as versatile working platforms. A wide range of Pontoon Accessories can be supplied with the pontoons such as handrails, mooring bollards, spud legs, winches and cranes depending on the specific requirements of the project.
